Becoming a housewife! :)

So tonight I cooked a delicious meal and I was very proud of my success! :) I forgot to take pictures before we ate (we were hungry!) So I stole some similar photos from google images....
Sooo on the menu tonight:
Pan seared mahi mahi in white wine sauce

This turned out delicious! I was very proud of actually making a fish that tasted good. The recipe was from the food network.

Next up, Acorn squash with brown sugar and butter sauce:

This is one of my favorite treats in the winter. I am so lucky that Lee likes this too so that I can easily convince him to buy more at our local produce store. Its like dessert that is disguised as a vegetable!

And per my future husband's request: baked potatoes

So it has taken me a few times to make thse right, the first time I didn't bake them long enough....Lee being how he is still ate it with a smile on his face. So tonight...finally I got it right!

So after tonight's dinner I thought "hey maybe this whole wife can make a great dinner thing might work out!" ....1 meal down....many more to come.....

Ceremony Site

So we have been determined to use Promontory Point in Chicago for our wedding long before we were even engaged. I originally saw this site when my two close friends Brandi and Nick got married a few years ago.

I instantly fell in love with the place and when Lee and I started dating we often talked about this beloved site. Prior to our engagement we had agreed that this would be the perfect place to do our wedding. Since we loved the place so much, Lee proposed there making it an even more special location.

So after the engagement I immediately contacted the Chicago Park District to fill out an application and reserve the space. To our extreme disappointment, the space was booked for every weekend in 2010. After getting over the disappointment of having to wait, we picked a day and booked (October 15, 2011). So here is the lovely surprise I get after applying......I can rent the facility from 10 - 2pm with a very cheap price. I thought what a great option! We could have the wedding at 1:30 with plenty of time to take pictures around Chicago. Wrong! We would have to have everything cleaned up by 2 so the wedding (according to the very rude facility manager) we would have to take place at 12. Too early for me AND would be adding extra cost to our photographer due to the long delay between the wedding and the ceremony. Sooooo no problem, I can book the site in the afternoon from 4-11pm...and hold on to your panties kids...tripled in price!  Now some may ask, why not find somewhere else? The truth is, we love this location and since Lee proposed there...it is too meaningful to pass up. So in short we are digging deep into our budget, very deep, but in the end it will all be worth it right? Just look at this view and tell me for yourself.....

The First Post

So I have been talking to many people regarding our wedding and first home planning. Many of them have told me what a great experience it is and to take time and enjoy the moments before they are gone! In order to do this I have decided to start by doing a blog. I've never done a blog before so this should be quite interesting...especially since I don't know if I will even be good at it! However, it will be a great way for my family and friends to keep up with this hectic time. Happy Blogging to me!
